Blog 7- The Information Age

This has definitely been an interesting class to take. I thought that I knew a lot about communication through phones and computers but I have learned a GREAT deal about the kinds of people that use CMCs for communication and how many people. Like TreonnaJoy, I was very surprised to read some of the statistics that were in some of the articles we have read like “One in three teens sends more than 100 text messages a day, or 3000 texts a month”. I knew that teenagers texted a lot but 100 TEXTS A DAY? I feel bad for whoever pays their phone bill! I have also learned a lot about webspeak and how it is affecting people’s every day lives, both online and off. We are definitely living in the Information Age…people are getting and GIVING all sorts of information on the internet.

  1. I agree, this is a great class. There are so many ways of learning communicating. We will never be behind as long as communication keeps us abreast of what's new. Communication is a big part of our daily lives, and we must take a stand to excel!

  2. "I knew that teenagers texted a lot but 100 TEXTS A DAY?"

It's truly frickin' amazing how many texts a kid will send a day. I don't know how they can juggle that many conversations and have so little to say in a text message. Maybe that's why they send so many texts.

  3. It is nuts the amount of personal information people will post on the internet but it's not, at least in their eyes, viewable by other random people. The problem with a lot of social networking sites is they don't start an account with limited access by strangers. This must be changed to be this way, so yes there is a lot of information prople are sharing that they don't even know they are. This is how a lot of companies can profit off of facebook.

  4. I think that texting is soon to become late technology. Before you know it, you would be crazy not have a "brain chip" for breakfast. We can just intuit our thoughts discreetly.
